Chandler PD gets new ballistic shields, upgraded body cameras
CHANDLER, Texas (KETK) – The Chandler Police Department recently announced that they’ve acquired new ballistic shields and upgraded body cameras thanks to two new grants.
One federal grant that was secured in 2024, allowed the department to buy enough high-powered rifle ballistic shields to equip them in each of their vehicles.
“This piece of equipment coupled with the soft body armor, gives better coverage for my officers, and it helps us protect the public,” Chandler PD Chief Kalon Rollins. “So we hope we never get to use them. But if we have them then we’ve got them when we need them.”
The department also secured another grant that’s allowed them to replace their current aging body cameras with newer ones that they’ve already put into use.
