TYLER, Texas (KETK)- The Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) President will be putting his dancing talent to the test by participating in a local charity event in Athens

Dr. Jason Morrison will be competing in the “Dancing with the Stars ETX” charity event based on the hit television show. The competition will feature various dancing routines, including Broadway classics and Michael Jackson-inspired routines.

The event will benefit the Stage Notes Academy of Preforming Arts which

is dedicated to teaching East Texas residents the needed skills to be successful thespians.

Morrison acknowledged that he will be stepping out of his comfort zone to compete in the event but he is so proud to represent TVCC while giving back to the community.

“I’ve always believed in stepping outside my comfort zone, and this is definitely a new challenge for me,” Morrison expressed. “But more importantly, ‘Dancing with the Stars: ETX’ is about supporting the arts and giving back to a community that has given so much to TVCC. I’m honored to be a part of this event and excited to represent the Home of Champions in a whole new way—on the dance floor.” 

The event will take place on June 21, 2025, at the Cain Center YMCA building.  Each “celebrity” and their professional dance partner will present a 90-second routine in front of a live audience during a dinner event. Winners will be decided by a combination of judges’ scores and fundraising efforts.
