The event, which is open to all ages, will feature a Fun Walk-Run track, a cycling/walking track, live entertainment and prizes, according to a news release from the city.

The route will take participants from Linear Park to Market Square and along a scenic tour of the nine vibrant murals throughout downtown Brownsville.

Those who visit all nine murals will verify their visits at the park’s registration table with the multimodal department staff, where they will receive a Cyclobia Drawing Ticket. That ticket will enter participants into a drawing for prizes, which include mountain bicycles among other items. Winners must be present to win since the drawing is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Linear Park.

The city said in the release that those who want to participate but do not have a bicycle can rent one from the multimodal transportation department, which will offer the rents at 6 p.m.

In addition to the festivities, there will also be live entertainment performances from the Revival of the Cultural Arts Center at Market Square.

Lastly, the city said in the release that those who will be driving downtown during the event should note that the streets around the route will be closed at 5:45 p.m. to allow for the preparation of the event.

“Commuters should drive with caution and be prepared to take alternate routes, around the downtown area, to get to their destination,” the release stated.
