The MLK Food Park began as a collaborative effort between Better Block and DRBTS (Do Right By The Streets) provides South Dallas residents the opportunity to connect with local businesses with a place to gather, have fellowship. This place has allowed the community to be represented in a way that lets them be seen, valued, and to exist as themselves without being outcasted. For this event, Desiree “Dee” Powell of DRBTS partnered with Shekinah Legacy Holdings, LLC and Dallas Weekly. Scottie Smith, Founder of Shekinah Legacy Holdings, LLC showed his support of the October event by use of his property’s parking lot.

“I have and will continue to be a South Dallas advocate, which includes supporting any initiatives that have a direct positive impact on the community. I have seen Dee successfully execute these food parks and I was happy to support her by use of the Save-A-Lot property” – Scottie Smith.
