Bryan Matthew Lewis, 61, lifelong resident of Fort Worth Texas, passed at home, August 31, 2024, in the care of his loving wife of 33 years, Diane (Arakelian) Lewis, following a long struggle with cancer.Bryan was everyone’s baby, eleventh of eleven children, he was the most optimistic and always cheerful. At five years old, he came bounding down the stairs, skidded to a stop in the living room and announced, “Hey, guess what? Only 50 more pounds and I’ll weigh 100!” But his catch phrase was, “Hey everybody, I’ve got a great big idea!” What followed was not always that great. Bryan epitomized the “Let’s go get scared” gene in our family.Bryan engaged life with relentless passion as an accomplished skydiver, scuba diver, hunter, fisherman, and animal wrangler. His many friends and family members were regularly enthralled with his colorful anecdotes, animated by his vocal impressions and sound effects. His culinary skills and gracious hospitality won him crowds of admirers among patrons of J&J Oyster Bar and Coburn’s Catering.Bryan’s generosity was known by so many. He never met a person or animal he could not communicate with in English, Spanish or numerous animal languages.Preceded in his passing by parents, George A. and Alice Marie (Shannon) Lewis, and two siblings, Joan E. Lewis, and Joseph S. Lewis, Bryan is survived by eight more siblings, A. Melissa Lewis, Anne S. (Lewis) Isham, Claire M. Lewis, George A. Lewis, J. Daniel Lewis, Mary M. (Lewis) Mertel, Caroline (Lewis) West, and Thomas S. Lewis; and many beloved nieces and nephews.His body is donated to the Willed Body Program at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. A celebration of life will be announced by the family at a later date.
