Some existing hotels are also sprucing up to attract customers and fill their rooms. One of those hotels, the Hilton Garden Inn Dallas/Arlington at 2190 E. Lamar Blvd., recently completed a $5.2 million renovation. Built in 2009, the hotel has 132 rooms including 13 suites and two Peloton rooms. The hotel is managed by Louisville, Kentucky-based Schulte Hospitality Group and owned by Noble Investment Group.Rochelle Samms, director of sales at the hotel, said its location in north Arlington near the entertainment district and other attractions places the hotel in a prime location. She said the city itself is a hot location for hotel rooms. Samms said that revenue per available room, or RevPAR, in the Arlington market continues to grow.“As of June, 12-month average RevPAR in the Arlington hotel submarket was climbing at an annual rate of 3.1%, essentially in line with the Fort Worth/Arlington average making it ideal for investors,” Samms said. What improvements were completed?

(Courtesy image | City of Arlington)For example, city and community leaders gathered earlier this month for the groundbreaking of the Caravan Court hotel redevelopment project, a partnership with Valencia Hotel Group, Division Hotel Management LLC and the city. It’s the former site of the Caravan Motel property on the southeast corner of Collins and Division streets, and city officials said it will pay homage to the historic Bankhead Highway, including restoration and reuse of the iconic Caravan Motor Hotel sign. The city said the 145-room upper upscale boutique hotel will feature a luxury retro-style “motor court” concept and midcentury aesthetic.“There’s a history here that goes back decades. The reason this is so important is we will begin to cross-pollinate our downtown and our entertainment district, and bring those two wonderful districts together in a way that’s never been done before,” Mayor Jim Ross said at the groundbreaking.Earlier this summer, the city’s entertainment district also celebrated the opening of the Drury Plaza Hotel Dallas Arlington in late June. The hotel features 268 guest rooms and suites along with 7,000 square feet of meeting space. And, in February, the $550 million Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center made its debut. The 21-story hotel features 888 guest rooms and luxury suites and is connected to the new Arlington Convention Center, which also is operated by Loews Hotels & Co, and the existing 300-room Live! by Loews. Altogether, the Loews complex in Arlington has 1,188 rooms and nearly 300,000 square feet of meeting space. At the Arlington Report, news decisions are made independently of our board members and financial supporters.
