Happy Thursday, One of Matt Tedder’s friends once described him as a “honkytonk wordsmith.”The title lives on as the singer and songwriter performs at venues in Texas, Tennessee and North Carolina. In terms of genre, Tedder says that country is the umbrella term that fits his style the best — with blues, soul and rock ’n’ roll influences.Aside from other artists, he also finds inspiration in daily conversation.“Everyday conversation, I find, is the best source for songs,” Tedder said by phone. “Whenever you can catch those little sayings that no songwriter has picked up on before, it’s an exciting thing. It’s like, ‘Man, I can’t be the first one who’s thought of this,’ but sometimes you get lucky like that.” On Friday, the Fort Worth artist will perform a free show at Tulips FTW, courtesy of KXT. Dallas’ Midnight Thirty will open the show in Near Southside.Audience members can expect songs from his most recent project, “I Can Dream You,” but Tedder said he also plans to test out a few songs that have never been performed live before.“I’m excited about it,” he said. “It’s going to be such a fun show.”Hear Matt Tedder test some new materialThe local musician will perform favorites from his most recent album in addition to playing around with some new material.
