Plans have been filed for a new six-story Hilton brand hotel in the Near Southside.

The 155-room hotel, part of the Tempo by Hilton brand, will have a modern design aesthetic that “ties into the historical context of Magnolia Street,” according to plans filed with the city.

The hotel is located at 1200 Hemphill St. and overlooks the Magnolia Green Park. Amenities will include a board room, bar, restaurant, patio, meeting spaces and a fitness center. Parking will be in the nearby Magnolia Green garage with valet services offered to hotel guests.

Tempo is a relatively new brand for Hilton, with only four locations in Nashville, Louisville, Kentucky, Times Square in New York City and Raleigh, North Carolina.

But plenty more are on the way. The hospitality company says 42 of the Tempo by Hilton hotels are in development.

Hilton describes the Tempo branded properties as fitness and wellness hotels aimed at the “active, ambitious traveler.” Peloton workout equipment is available in some rooms.

The Fort Worth location is owned and being built by Hemphill Hospitality based in Irving.

The hotel adds to the inventory of hospitality space in the area which includes the city’s Medical District. A previous hotel planned for Magnolia Avenue and Henderson Street in Fort Worth has never gotten off the ground.

Set to open later this year is the 148-room Nobleman Hilton Tapestry Hotel at 503 Bryan Ave., a four-story, $26.5 million project that includes the renovation of the historic Fire Station No. 5. That will serve as the hotel’s lobby and part of the restaurant. Other guest amenities include an outdoor pool, two outdoor patios, meeting space and an underground garage.

Two Fort Worth companies are helping build a dealership in Gordon, Texas, that pays homage to the area’s past.

PRIM Construction, with help from the architects led by Steven Halliday at 97w, is building an entire showroom using brick, a visual shoutout to the nearby old Thurber brick plant near Gordon that supplied bricks for Camp Bowie and the Stockyards.
