It had been decades since my husband and I moved away after graduating from TCU in the early 1990s. So, when our youngest child graduated high school and became a TCU student, we knew it was our opportunity to move back to a place we have always considered home.
We chose to relocate our business to Fort Worth not just because it was the place we wanted to call home. It also offered a large and diverse group of professionals we could hire, allowing growth.
We planned our move with the expectation of buying a home somewhere around Arlington Heights or close to TCU. We instead decided to build a home in a new neighborhood in Westworth Village called Westworth Falls.
We wouldn’t change a thing.
Westworth Village is incredibly convenient to downtown, the Cultural District and the Stockyards. Even though it’s close to higher traffic areas, it feels like a safe small town. With a population of only about 2,700, we have very little traffic. It’s a family-friendly area that has a number of new, gated communities mixed with the older housing in the area.
A great surprise for us was the Airfield Falls. Located on the east side of the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, you can easily access the Ttrail Hhead and walk past the display of a McDonnell Douglas C-9 aircraft.
From there, it’s a short walk on the Trinity Trails to the largest natural waterfall in Fort Worth. Any given day, you can find couples there posing for wedding pictures and families and kids around the water. It’s a highlight of the extensive trails.
Between the regular sights of the jets taking off and landing and the morning and evening trumpet music, we love being close to the base. Westworth Village is truly a hidden jewel inside the city of Fort Worth. We are a 10-minute drive to downtown, shopping, or entertainment.
But no place is perfect. The drive to H-E-B is a little too long for our liking.
Chris McGarraugh started a family of companies in the logistics industry called CB Ag Holdings Inc. with her husband, Cody, in Perryton, Texas. After her youngest moved to Fort Worth to attend TCU, Chris and Cody decided to transition their lives to Fort Worth and have been residing in Westworth Village since 2023.
