Dallas Office of Environmental Quality and Sustainability hosts town halls on solar energy

As part of its Comprehensive Environmental and Climate Action Plan, the city of Dallas has prioritized the development and use of zero-emissions electricity sources, like solar energy, to meet its climate goals. The City of Dallas Office of Environmental Quality and Sustainability is hosting an in person and virtual town hall to share its plans for solar energy development at 10 priority city-owned sites.

CECAP established a goal to increase the amount of available renewable energy. The target is to install 739,000 kW of solar by 2030 and 3,695,000 kW by 2050. The renewable energy market is growing as photovoltaic panels and battery technologies become more affordable and adaptable. With an average of 234 days of sunshine per year, Dallas has the potential to take advantage of more solar energy options.

Dallas residents are invited to attend the upcoming town hall meetings to learn more and provide feedback on the 10 city-owned sites identified for potential installation of solar panels.
