Mission man charged with murder following McAllen drug rip that left one dead
A 46-year-old Mission man is under arrest after he and his friend broke into a McAllen home where the resident fought back, leaving one of the burglary suspects “unconscious,” according to a McAllen Police Department press release.
Authorities arrested Eusebio Salazar Dominguez on Saturday and charged him with murder for the death of his friend, 39-year-old Ronnie Anthony Anzaldua, who later died from his injuries.
Robert Jonathan Rodriguez, 28, who was Salazar and Anzaldua’s target, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence.
At 7:42 a.m. on Saturday, Rodriguez called McAllen police in regards to a burglary in progress and stated that “two males broke into his house… he left one uncon[scious]… locked himself inside,” and that the “males beat him up,” the release said.
Responding officers found Anzaldua bleeding from his chest and he appeared unconscious on the ground outside the residence located at the 1000 block of E. Dove Ave. in McAllen.
EMS was called but Anzaldua was later declared dead.
Rodriguez told police that one suspect left the scene and described him as a “male… wearing blue jeans… medium to heavy set… left in a black SUV.”
The officers first proceeded to Anzaldua’s last known address in Mission for next-of-kin purposes where they learned from his family that he had been with a friend who was also a neighbor.
They then proceeded to Dominguez’s residence where he was found.
He was later identified as the suspect who left the scene in a black SUV.
Police also executed a search warrant on the residence where the alleged burglary occurred and found controlled substances, including marijuana.
The responding officers determined that the drug contraband had been locked in a separate room before they had arrived.
Dominguez remains jailed on a $500,000 bond.
