A 57-year-old man drowned in Lake Bardwell on Sunday after being separated from his tube, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Around 3:30 p.m. Ellis County game wardens responded to a call of a missing swimmer/possible drowning near Highview Park on the west side of the lake. Officials said the man was last seen approximately 150 feet from where he went underwater and didn’t resurface.

Game wardens searched the area using underwater side scan sonar, officials said.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. the Waxahachie Fire Department’s dive team recovered the body.
