TY Macklin’s ‘Go Live With It’ Captures Modern Life With Smooth Neo Soul
Go Live With It (feat. JaChrys) is the latest song from the Dallas, Texas raised Multi-Platinum Producer/Composer Ty Macklin. The self described ‘Neo Soul’ guru is capturing modern elements in his song and video, alongside retro R&B hints.
The song is based around live streaming one’s love for another. The ‘Go Live With It (feat. JaChrys)’ song and video captures the experiences of a couple sharing special moments with their phone – something that is almost relatable amongst us all.
The smooth production gives a mellow vibe, which is complimented with rich vocals and harmonies – giving an easy listening experience.
Neo soul stems from the 1980’s and saw a rise in the 90’s, accelerated by artists such as Erykah Badu Jill Scott, D’Angelo and Lauren Hill. In my opinion, style wise, at times Go Live With It (feat. JaChrys) reminds me slightly of Usher who came to rise in the early 2000’s. However, it seems Ty Macklin’s work dates a lot earlier than the likes of Usher; so perhaps he was pioneering this sound way before.
As a producer/composer Ty Macklin a.k.a. XL7 has an extensive production discography which dates back to the 90’s. This includes producing for artists such as Erykah Badu, India.Arie, Sandra St. Victor, and Noel Gourdin to name a few. According to his website, he attended Arts Magnet High School, the same high school as Nora Jones, Edie Breckel, Erykah Badu, and Roy Hargrove.
Along with this latest song Ty Macklin has a whole new soul music compilation project entitled: “Ty Macklin presents: Soul in the key of Neo, VOL. 1”. The compilation features Soul artists that are currently known, but also those new to the scene, in an attempt to give new artists more recognition.
